P and C

I think the logo at the top of my home page needs some explanation.

‘P and C’ stands for Philippa and Clinton, and ‘P and C publishing’ is the name I have used to self-publish my third novel, ‘Lawn House Blues’. The book has been developed and designed with help from Spiffing Covers, visit Spiffing Covers, who provide a full service supporting the self-publishing of print-on-demand books as well as ebooks (and audiobooks if required). Gabriel from Spiffing Covers created this natty logo for me and it now sits nicely on the spine of my book and in the ISBN box.

The official launch of ‘Lawn House Blues’ will be 21st September 2018 – the excitement is building and details of the launch will follow shortly. Thereafter the ‘P and C’ logo is one I can keep and hopefully use for future projects.

Book covers

I’ve been thinking a lot about book covers recently, considering how important they are, as the doors that open to welcome readers into our books. They can encourage and intrigue, tease a reader, or maybe put them off completely. Most books feel good to handle, whatever the finish of the cover; matt or gloss; paper, board, fabric or leather. The choice of colour can make a huge difference too to the effect a cover gives and as a book stands on a shelf the spine becomes important too. A cover can be a beautiful works of art in its own right, a wonderful piece of graphic design or a perfectly displayed photograph.

I can’t wait to soon reveal the cover of my new novel, but before that I have enjoyed re-visiting my last two covers, from 2013 and 2014. Click on the links below to see them:

My writing room

Having written for some years at a desk that was far too small, this summer I re-ordered my upstairs writing room. It remains overcrowded ( I may be a hoarder?) but is much more user-friendly, with a peaceful view looking down on the garden for inspiration.

In this room I finally finished my third novel, ‘Lawn House Blues’, about which you will hear more in the coming weeks as publication approaches.
